My way of working is technically known as integrative. This means that instead of training in just one approach I have trained extensively in several and can use whichever seems most useful for you. It involves looking at the present problems (what is going on at the moment) and at underlying issues (that may relate to early messages you took on board about the world, relationships, and how you felt you ‘should’ be). The aim is for you to understand yourself better, to make changes to your life that are more productive and rewarding, and to help you move towards becoming the kind of person you want to be.
This approach has developed from my years of training, my later work as a senior tutor on counselling and therapy courses, my extensive work with counselling organisations and, most of all, my work with hundreds of clients since 1985. It has also been shaped by my life experiences and my own personal journey as a client in therapy.
Session length and my fees
Sessions are 50 minutes and are weekly. We will agree a session time that is convenient for you and you can have this same allotted appointment each week for as long as you want it.
My fee is £60 per session in Bromley (£45 in Aylsham), payable at the end of each session (please note I do not take credit cards). If you are not able to keep an appointment (for example if you are on holiday or ill) a half-fee of £30 (£22 in Aylsham) is still payable. The reason for this is that, in common with many psychotherapists, I see people on a weekly basis at the appointment time they have agreed with me. In the same way, your own appointment time is specifically for you and cannot be filled by anyone else if you do not attend.
